    Description

Please email with any questions. Circa 1`950-60 ceramic souvenir plate from Radium Springs near Albany, Georgia. 10" diameter plate with embossed fruit pattern on the flange and sepia transfer image of the casino. Marked on the back "Eggshell Theme by Homer Laughlin, made in USA" and "Morgan-Hopper China, Somerset, KY". Radium Springs was a poplar spa and resort. The casino overlooking the springs was built in the 1920's. The word "casino" didn't always refer to gambling a hundred years ago. The casino had live orchestras to dance by and dining room facilities. A fire in 1982 and floods in 1994 and 1998 damaged the casino beyond repair. Whatever remained of the structure was removed in 2003. The plate has a white divot on the image that was caused by a bubble in the clay bursting in the kiln during manufacturing. There is a hairline visible on the front and back located between the 7 and 8 mark if the plate were a clock.
